  • Live-In Care

I am currently providing end of life care for a lady who has advanced stage dementia who I have been working with for some months as her live-in carer. She suffers from a lot of depression, confusion and anger as a result of her dementia, so a lot of my work is helping her with this aspect, making a personal connection, finding out what she loves and how she ticks in order to reach her and calm her. I have worked as both a therapeutic massage therapist & holistic yoga teacher for several years and during this time have attracted a lot of 1-1 clients with a range of ailments from physical injuries to mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, life crisis’s etc. I very much enjoy working in a 1-1 healing and guiding capacity and this is really where I find my niche - in my ability to listen well, calm and make an honest valued connection with another. During my studies in creative arts therapy I have worked with adults with learning disabilities to help open up alternative means of communication through movement and dance & promote a sense of social integration. I also worked with a group of women, designing a creative, self-explorative journey, to help build their sense of empowerment and self-acceptance.
I listen well, I seek to understand & feel empathically where a person is coming from, and I have patience and compassion. I love to read and write, walk in nature, contemplate, explore, design. I practice yoga & meditation, and like to cook healthy nutritious meals. I have been vegetarian since childhood and have also worked for a brief period as a cook so I have had some good practise.
I am looking to initially do occasional cover work, with a view to more regular work in the future. I am happy to work with a range of people, with an interest in end of life care.
I am also interested and open to include aspects of yoga, breath-work, meditation etc, and to help create personalised programs for clients if this is something that they feel would benefit them.
I am available for anything from 1-3 week cover outside of London as well. My dates with possibly some flexibility: 28th Jan - 19th Feb, 23 March - 23 April.

I have known Laura since July 2016 when she first came to care for my mum. Since then Laura has come to stay with mum as a live in carer on a total of 4 occasions. Each stay as been for about 2/3 weeks each. Mum has dementia & is immobile & is entirely dependent on carers to enable her to live in her own home. I have found Laura to be trustworthy, very caring & I have no hesitation in leaving my mum in Laura's care. Laura is kind & patient & capable of dealing with difficult situations. Her easy going manner helps to put mum at ease & also Laura to form good working relationships. I'd absolutely recommend her to others as well.
